Barnsley u3a walking football champions set for President’s Cup clash in Dodworth

A walking football group is taking on local rivals next month as part of anniversary celebrations.

The Bu3a walking football group has over 20 members who meet every Friday morning at Dodworth come rain or shine.

The group was created around ten years ago and in recent years has been testing itself against other walking football groups.

In 2025 it became the first winners of a national u3a walking football competition held in York.

On July 10 a six-a-side walking football tournament has been arranged against Doncaster Dynamos who are bringing two teams to Dodworth Miners’ Welfare to challenge the u3a group for a newly-commissioned President’s Cup.

This has been arranged as part of the Bu3a 30th anniversary celebrations and begins at 10am.
