A walking football club in Stratford-upon-Avon is challenging stereotypes about the sport after attracting more than 340,000 views on social media
Stratford Town Walking Football Club – named the Bards Strollers – achieved the feat in the space of just 28 days.
The club’s online reach has increased by more than 150 per cent which stemmed from player-led videos including testimonials from former players.
Founded in July 2025, the club has grown to more than 130 members in the space of five months.
Stratford offer competitive football for men and women aged 40-years-old and above.

Club founder, Phil Clarke said: “Walking football isn’t about slowing the game down – it’s about playing it smarter.
“The response we’ve had shows people were waiting for a version of walking football that still respects the technical and competitive side of the game.
“We’re not trying to reinvent football.
“We’re just showing that there’s still a serious, enjoyable, and meaningful way to play the game later in life.”
The club runs measured pitched to FA standards with qualified referees and compete in local, national and international tournaments.
Bards Strollers plan to enter a competitive league this year.
