Exeter City Women’s Walking Football Club made history with a double celebration after a commanding performance in the Dorset League finals, which concluded on Sunday, June 8.
Team 3 were crowned B Division champions, finishing the season unbeaten and topping the table with 35 points — a full 10 points ahead of their closest rivals. Originally formed on paper, the side was assembled on potential but more than proved their worth once given a stage.
Their dominant campaign in the newly launched Dorset League culminated in a standout final day performance, underlining their chemistry and resilience on the pitch.
It was a day to remember for the whole club. Exeter City’s first team also competed in the A Division and secured a strong second-place finish. Despite starting the day just one and two points ahead of their nearest challengers, they remained unbeaten across all four of their matches to hold onto the runner-up spot.

The result capped a remarkable week for the first team, who had also won the Teign Drifter Tournament the previous weekend — marking back-to-back triumphs in the competition.
Team 3 was captained by Laura and Ellie, while Maxine led the first team during their A Division campaign.
Manager Gillian Burgess said: “Such a super vibe at the club. We are always up for a challenge, we work hard at training, we encourage and support each other so it’s great to be able to celebrate our successes together. Up the City!”
Player of the Day honours went to Yaz, and the club is now on the lookout for a new kit sponsor for Team 3 ahead of next season.
