ALLOA Athletic secured Scottish Cup glory at the weekend with its Over 70s Walking Football squad.
The team overcame tough competition – and rainy conditions – to scoop the national title in Glasgow on Saturday.
Having won all three of their group games, they secured a 4-1semi final win over Fife Wanderers before beating East Kilbride side Duncanrig by the same scoreline in the final.
The tournament attracted a total of 92 teams and over 900 players to Glasgow Green for the largest ever one day walking football festival.
Now firmly established as a landmark event in the walking football calendar, the festival brought together players from across Scotland to compete in a day of camaraderie, competition and celebration of the game.

Sponsored by charity partners, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, this year’s event not only broke participation records but also showcased the continued growth and diversity of walking football, with matches played across a range of age and gender categories.
Special guests in attendance included former Scottish footballers, Craig Levein, Peter Grant, David Hopkin and Dougie Imrie, as well as Walking Football Scotland patron and football icon Rose Reilly MBE, who helped present trophies and medals to the winning teams.
Alloa’s winning over 70s squad consisted of captain Ian Stag, Owen Kelly, Ralph Gillespie, Robert Bowman, Derek Beveridge, Arthur Ellis, Brian Lynn and Jimmy Mcivor.
