An event aimed at celebrating the skills of individuals with acquired brain injuries (ABI) is set to return in 2025.
The ABI Games, organised by Headway Worcestershire, will take place on August 20, 2025, at the University of Worcester Sports Arena.
The 2025 games aim to build on the success of the 2023 event, which saw more than 170 participants from across the UK compete in 24 activities.
The ABI Games are described as the only competition in the world dedicated to those with acquired brain injuries.
The aim of the event is to provide a platform that celebrates participants’ abilities, rather than their disabilities.
The 2025 games will feature a range of activities, including walking tennis, rugby, cricket, and football.
Creative challenges, such as pottery, photography, baking, and crafts, will also be included in the event.
Participants will also be able to test their cognitive skills with games like chess, Uno, and memory challenges.
The ABI Games are open to any brain injury charity registered in the UK.
Volunteers and sponsors, including main sponsor Higgs LLP, are said to be crucial to the event’s success.
Organisers are expecting an even larger turnout in 2025 compared to previous years.
A spokesman for Headway Worcestershire said: “The ABI Games are about celebrating abilities, building confidence, and fostering a sense of community.
“It’s a chance to connect with others, share experiences, and show the world what’s possible after an ABI.”
