The Northern Ireland Walking Football Federation (NIWFF), in conjunction with the IFA, is hosting its first international walking football tournament.
The event will be taking place at Londonderry Park on Saturday 24 February from 2.00pm and involves Over 60s and Over 70s teams from Northern Ireland, England and Republic of Ireland, with the NIWFF Challenge trophy up for grabs in each category.
England are the current world champions, at both 60s and 70s level, so the competition will certainly be challenging.
The Republic of Ireland Over 60s team narrowly lost out on goal difference in an international tournament in Dublin last July, which included teams from France, Italy, England and Switzerland.
Manager of the NI teams, Gary Barclay, however is undaunted and really looking forward to the occasion, taking some confidence from the performance of the NI Over 60s in reaching the quarter finals of the world cup last August.
For the NI Over 70s this will be their first competitive games and the experience will be invaluable for the incoming season.
The NI teams feature players from walking football clubs around the country, including Ards, Bangor, Lisburn, Shankill, Avoniel and Carrick / Larne.
Spectators are welcome to come along, particularly if they are cheering for Northern Ireland.
