The festival played at St.Georges Park with 60+ players was also attended by two fantastic footballing legends, Natasha Dowie and Becky Easton who played for the The Lionesses (England’s Women’s International Football team).
Over 60 women from across the country will came together to play the game they love, meet new friends, share experiences, laugh, compete, encourage one another and, most importantly, enjoy being part of something bigger than football.
Because the power of Walking Football and sport is about so much more than what happens on the pitch.
- It brings women together.
- It creates friendships and connections that can last a lifetime.
- It gives women confidence.
- It creates a sense of belonging.
- It supports health.
And it reminds us that, whatever our age or background, there is still so much we can achieve.
The festival will raised funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, continuing the fantastic fundraising spirit of WFA football friend Alexis Lunn-Gadd from Abbeymead Walking Football Club.
This festival was about football, friendship, fun, fundraising and bringing women together through the beautiful game.
Different clubs.
Different backgrounds.
Different stories.
But one football family!
Teams were named in honour of some fantastic players who played for the The Lionesses:
- Team Toone
- Team Russo
- Team Mead
- Team Kelly
- Team Bronze
- Team Hampton
- Team Williamson
- Team James
