Mr Cogan worked for several years for a mobility company and, 12 months ago, on September 18, began operating his own business from Unit 4, Winnall Manor Farm, Easton Lane.

He also has a stall at Winchester Market on Fridays which was spotted by a walking footballer when a link was made.

Football club chairman Brian Mustoe said: “We really appreciate Winchester Mobility’s sponsorship to help drive us forward. While many professional clubs have the dubious honour of names of gambling companies on their shirts we will be much prouder to highlight a local company which provides assistance to all sections of the community.

“Their vast range of goods and equipment offers an invaluable choice to anyone suffering from the slightest temporary mobility ailment to someone almost permanently inactive and confined to their home.”

Mr Cogan said: “Walking football is a healthy activity and I was impressed with the standard of the club’s play. My job is very rewarding when I see how grateful a customer is from using something as simple as a shoe horn to a top of the range wheelchair or scooter and being able to get out and about and enjoy life, which the footballers clearly do as well.”

Mr Cogan is a keen football fan and played for Andover FC, Andover New Street, Stockbridge, Broughton, Overton and Ludgershall.

He stopped playing at 32 through a long run of injuries. He managed the Arms SMB men’s team, (St Mary Bourne) which saw them win the league title and three cup finals in one season!

He currently coaches Andover New Street u12s, Saturday & Sunday teams.
