Walking Football Nelson Prostate Cup
The fifth annual walking football tournament will be held in Nelson next month.
Run by Walking Football Nelson, with support from the Nelson City Council and Sprig + Fern Brewing, the Prostate Cup will be held on September 27 at Saxton Stadium.
A local legends team will be among those taking part with a lineup including former All Blacks Chris Jack and Wyatt Crockett, bowler Val Smith and basketballer Phill Jones.
All proceeds go to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Walking Football Nelson was formed in 2019 and now has more than 50 players, comprised of men over 50 and women over 40. Sessions are held on Wednesday nights at the Nelson College for Girls gym.
For the past two years, the group has hosted two international Walking Football Festivals in Nelson, attended by teams from Australia, Nelson, Christchurch and Wellington.
