RAINFORD Walking Football Club has raised £2,700 for a mental health charity.

The club held its second charity six-a-side tournament on Saturday, June 14, at Rainford Rangers FC, raising funds for Mind.

The event is arranged in memory of Ste Reid, a former player and club member.

Eight teams from across the North West, including Blackpool, Bolton, Culcheth, Neston, Formby, Widnes, and two Rainford teams, took part.

Bolton secured victory in the main competition, taking home the Ste Reid Trophy, while Widnes triumphed in the Plate Trophy competition.

The tournament received a £500 sponsorship from Omega Life of Prescot, while an anonymous donor contributed £1,500.

With the addition of registration fees and further donations collected on the day, the total sum raised for Mind came to £2,700.
