Peter Hone ‘s valuable sharing on Parkinson’s at Parkinson Society Singapore, with Waf4h ( Walking Football4Health Global ) with Dr Dee Dee Mahmood and our Balestier Khalsa Football Club family with Don Darwin on 29 June 2024, made all of us realise that there is so much more we need to do collectively to increase awareness about Parkinson’s.
Parkinsons’ struggles are real.
Parkinson disease (PD) is a brain condition that causes problems with movement, mental health, sleep, pain and other health issues.
Exercise is important for those with Parkinson’s, because of its physiological effects as well as its hormone stabilising effects, as also does exercise training effects on performance- related fitness components such as improving balance, coordination, stability and reaction time.
Added on to this is the social and psychological effects when you exercise as a team in a positive environment where there is great support and camaraderie.
We are happy to have Peter in our walking football family, alongwith 2 of our Warriors, Suresh and Ravi.
Walking football is a non-contact sport, training both health and performance related fitness mentioned above.
We take the opportunity here to give a Shoutout to our Waf4H Family who has always been positive and supportive of everyone who joins us in walking football.
