The month of September 2023 will live long in the memory as the Club starts a range of adventures. There are two National Finals, a unique mixed gender festival, an introduction to walking football for women event, a health promotion event and a fund raising quiz evening.
The month kicks off with a fund-raising quiz evening for the women’s team on Friday 8th September. Run by Frances Handley, it is already a well-supported event.
The first football action of note is the Walking Football League Association (WFLA) National Finals where the Club’s over 65s have reached the final in their age group.
On the same day, Sunday 10th September, the Club is hosting a mixed gender festival. This is the first time the Club have hosted a multi-team festival since 2017.
The following week, on Saturday 16th September, the Club’s over 70s are playing in the Walking Football Association (WFA) National Finals at Nottingham University.
The very next day, Sunday 17th September, the Club are hosting an ‘Introduction to Walking Football’ event for women.
The final event is on Saturday 23rd September when the Club has been asked to run a stall and demonstrate walking football at a health promotion event run by NHS North East London at Score, Oliver Road. This will be before the Leyton Orient v Shrewsbury game and a call will go out soon for volunteers.
