Old Bexhillians Walking Football Club make busy start to new year

Three of Old Bexhillians Walking Football Club’s sides have been in action in early January.

The OBs Over 50s team took on Hastings Hornets in the Southern Combination Walking Football League (East Division) at Bexhill College and chalked up an impressive 5-0 win against the ‘noisy neighbours’.

The club’s Over 60s team – the Atha Strollers – lost 2-1 to Eastbourne Whites at Bexhill College in the first round of the Sussex Cup.

The Seniors’ Over 68s were able to field two teams in a triangular event with Battle Knights Over 68s, also at Bexhill College, that was a friendly event with no prize at stake other than one of the real reasons for walking football at a certain age – fun and games with a touch of competitiveness.

On the social side Howard Whitelaw – committee member and squad member of the OBs Over 50s squad – organised festive walks over Christmas for club members and members of the public. The plan for the future is to have more of these along Bexhill seafront and other locations.

This is yet another contribution to the Rother Active activity that was so prominent at the start of the club’s activities back in 2015 when the seeds for the OBWFC were first sown.
