More success for the BRCT Walking Football teams!

Blackburn Rovers Community Trust’s Over-65s Walking Football team reached the local final of the Walking Football League Alliance National Cup earlier this month.

Throughout the age groups, the Community Trust’s teams have tasted success, either reaching the latter stages of tournaments, competing at the top of league tables, or winning silverware.

The Over-65s overcame Fleetwood and Bolton Arena to set up a final game Bury Relics, a match they won by one goal to nil courtesy of a fantastic strike by Ian McCann.

Rovers played extremely well throughout the tournament, and in the final, as they hit the woodwork twice and had two goals chalked off.

Meanwhile, both the 60s and 50s teams were eliminated at the semi-final stage in their age groups of the competition. The 50s team lost narrowly 4-3 to Bolton Arena and the 60s team lost 2-1 to Kingsmaid.
