Bracknell walking football group to benefit from new scheme

A walking football group for people with neurological conditions will receive support after successfully applying to a new scheme.

Bracknell Foresters Neuro Walking Football was selected for support through the Community Champions programme launched by Everyone Active in partnership with Bracknell Forest Council.

The scheme supports groups making a difference in their communities by addressing local needs and improving lives.

As the successful applicant, Bracknell Foresters Neuro Walking Football will secure use of facilities within Bracknell Leisure Centre.

The group is also eligible to be shortlisted for the annual Everyone Active Champions Awards.

Mark Tennant, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “We are hugely excited to celebrate the work of Bracknell Foresters Neuro Walking Football, a project that makes a real difference in Bracknell Forest.

“We want to highlight the work of everyday heroes who are changing people’s lives and inspiring others to make a positive impact in their communities.

“Bracknell Foresters Neuro Walking Football is the perfect example of this and we are delighted to work more closely with them through the Community Champions scheme.”

The group meets weekly at Bracknell Leisure Centre and offers accessible football sessions for people with a range of neurological conditions, including dementia, Parkinson’s, and motor neurone disease.
